Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team - Review

Plot

I might be a little too generous with this grade. Mystery Dungeon's plot really brought the game down. While the game was quite fun and interesting at the start, as soon as you finish the main story... it ends up getting awfully repetitive and as a result, very boring.
An extended plot and/or something more to do besides those repetitive missions (which all seem to feel the same by the end) would have been an excellent addition to the game.
Aside from that, some parts of the plot were pretty funny, which I liked. Some other parts were pretty sad as well, I think a first for any Pokémon game.

Graphics

I think the graphics in this game are very good. I liked the new, smaller sprites they made for the game, as well as the many expressions and things of the talking Pokemon.
Some things I didn't like, such as the dungeons. I think they could have made them a lot better. It can get quite boring going through the same tunnels every time you go on a mission. Some of the other places on the map were very well done, though. Such as the Whiscash Pond and the Town.
They could have done something better with the houses, though. I hate having to walk through a mouth to get inside. xD

Features/Originality

This is probably the most original Pokémon game of them all. It introduced multiplayer playing like never before with the use of Passwords to save your friends. It is also the first generation of games to be brought out on two different consoles.
It also gave us the option of 'linking' moves. I know it has helped me through the game. (Now, if only they made it possible on the regular Pokémon games. xD)
The battling was also pretty unique, no changing scenes or anything. It made it seem a bit more realistic. Also the fact that you couldn't really control your partner Pokémon, adding to the realism.

Pokémon

The assortment of starter Pokémon in this game makes it great. Though, it can be hard to get the one you want.
With every Pokémon in this game, it's hard not to give this a decent score!

Overall

Though the game was quite original, the plot really brought the game down. (As I said before)- That shows in my final grade.
If this game had a more interesting plot, it would be the best spin-off game out there. If you’re looking for something other than trying to “Catch ‘em All”, this game is an awesome change. But, if you get bored with games easily, this might not be for you.
